The Broodmother is a slightly bigger version of the spider that summons in her brood to attack you and she has a special drop that will aid you in your adventure.

Broodmother
The Broodmother is a slightly bigger version of the spider that summons tiny spiders that give you fatal poison for a few seconds. The broodmother spawns rarely in monster biomes but is very common inside of jungles. She has 40 health.
Broodling
The broodlings are the brood from the mother and will attack players dealing 2 damage but leaving a nasty effect of fatal poison for 5 seconds. They have 8 health but despawn after 5 seconds.
Brood Staff
The Brood Staff has a durability of 555 and a cooldown of 0.1 seconds. This staff can summon in your own tamed broodlings that are better than the original. This weapon is dropped by the broodmother having a 0.1 chance to drop and is effected by looting.
Tamed Broodling
The tamed broodlings are summoned with the brood staff and attack ANYTHING not holding a brood staff dealing 2 damage but leaving a nasty effect of fatal poison for 5 seconds. They have 8 health but despawn after 15 seconds.
