Cavern is an addon that adds more variety to caves and the End. Cavern adds over 100 new blocks. This includes rocks beyond Diorite, Andesite, and Granite, polished and brick versions of these rocks, new ores, and other decorative blocks. This addon also adds two new dyes and a new mid-range tool tier. More rocks, ores, and features will be added in the future! Tell me what you think and give suggestions for new things in the comments!
v2.0.0 has added countless new blocks and features to explore. If you are comparing the gameplay experience from v1.0.0 to this one, this will feel like a completely different addon with all of the new additions and improved textures.

Gneiss

Gneiss is a striated rock with black and white layers. It generates between y 2-20 and can be crafted with Granite + Quartz. Gneiss can not be crafted into any other blocks, so less of it generates.

Hornfels is a black rock that generates between y 30-50 and can be crafted with Mica + Diabase. Hornfels can also be crafted into polished and polished bricks variants. *Note: Hornfels replaces slate due to Deepslate being added in 1.17

Limestone

Limestone is a french gray rock that is found in oceans and beaches; it can be crafted with Cobblestone + Nautilus Shells. Limestone can also be crafted into polished and polished bricks variants.

Marble

Marble is a white rock that generates between y 10-30 and can be crafted with Cobblestone + Limestone. Marble can also be crafted into polished and polished bricks variants. (Note: The picture looks darker than in actually is in Minecraft.)

Mariposite

Mariposite is a rock with an elusive teal color, which makes this rock a little more rare. It generates between y 10-30 and can be crafted with Mica + Cobblestone. Mariposite can also be crafted into polished and polished bricks variants.

Mudstone & Mud

Mud and Mudstone generate exclusively in rivers and swamp biomes. Mud can be crafted into Mudstone by placing 4 in a 2x2 crafting grid. Mudstone can be crafted into Cobbled (use stonecutter), Smooth (use furnace), Cut (4 in a 2x2 grid), and Chiseled (use stonecutter) variants.

Novaculite

Novaculite is a striated tan rock that is found in exclusively in oceans and can be crafted with Chert + Diatomite. Novaculite can also be crafted into polished and bricks variants. Phyllite

Phyllite is a striated gray rock that generates between y 20-40 and can be crafted with Shale + Mica. Phyllite can also be crafted into polished and bricks variants. Phyllite Bricks can be made by smelting Phyllite and then using the bricks in a 2x2 crafting grid to get the brick block.

River Rock

River Rock is a new multicolored cobblestone variant that generates in rivers

Rhyolite

Rhyolite is a pinkish gray rock that generates between y 50-200 and can be crafted with Granite + Stone. Rhyolite can also be crafted into polished and polished bricks variants.

Shale is a pinkish gray rock that generates between y 50-200 and can be crafted with Mud + Quartz. Shale can also be crafted into polished and polished bricks variants.

Siltstone

Siltstone is a purplish red rock that is found in deserts and mesas (badlands); it can be crafted with Cobblestone + Red Sand. Siltstone can also be crafted into polished and polished bricks variants.

Diatomite

Diatomite is a white sediment/rock that generates on the ocean floor below y-45.

Flint and Flint Tools

Flint can now be obtained by mining flint ore that generates between y 30-150. This is added because flint has new uses: it can create flint blocks (craft with 9 flint in a 3x3 crafting grid) and flint tools. Flint Tools have the efficiency of iron, the damage of stone, and the durability between the two. The flint pickaxe can’t mine all ores, so you’ll need to upgrade to iron still. Flint tools have the added bonus of being able to break custom blocks faster. (Since version 2.0.17, Flint has a new texture.)

Feldspar

Feldspar is a new ore that generates between y 20-150. It can be used to craft feldspar blocks (4 feldspar in a 2x2 crafting grid) and Hardened Glass.

Hardened Glass

Hardened Glass is an education edition exclusive block that I’ve implemented in survival. The more noticeable border may be useful in certain builds. It can be crafted with feldspar and your choice of (stained) glass block or pane.

Mica

Mica is a new ore that also generates between y  20-150. It can be used to craft  mica blocks (4 mica in a 2x2 crafting grid) and Tan dye.

Tan and Peach Dye

Tan dye can be crafted from brown + white dye or from mica. It can then be crafted with white or black dye to get the new peach dye and brown dye respectively. Concrete powder, concrete, wool, sheetrock, stained glass, hardened glass, and terracotta. Currently concrete powder can only turn into concrete via the crafting table. Tan/Peach wool can also be used to craft paintings. Glazed Terracotta is currently not obtainable in survival because I couldn’t get the rotation right. If someone has a working solution, please contact me with the google form provided in the Contact Me section below.

Rubies

Ruby is a new ore that generates very rarely between y 1-20. Rubies can be crafted into a Ruby Block or used to trade for valuable items with wandering traders. This feature is currently experimental, so let me know if rubies are too rare/common, or if the trade prices need to be tweaked. In the future, I may add Ruby tools and armor that can only be obtained from the wandering trader. Deepslate Ruby Ore is planned for the next update.
Wandering Trader Trades: (Ruby:Item)
2:1 - Totem of Undying
3:3 - Golden Apple
1:16 - Prismarine
5:1 - Heart of the Sea
12:1 - Lodestone
1:20 - TNT
3:1 - Ender Eye
4:1 - Sponge

Gypsum and White Sand

Gypsum is a rock that is exclusive to the desert and generates between y 35-200. When broken, it drops 2-4 gypsum dust. Gypsum dust can be crafted back into gypsum blocks (4 dust in a 2x2 grid), or can be crafted into Sheetrock or White Sand.

Sheetrock

Sheetrock is a new set of blocks crafted with paper and gypsum dust. It can be dyed all colors except white. Sheetrock introduces a new palette of pastel colored blocks for your builds!
White Sand is a new sand variant found sparsely on beaches. It can also be crafted with 2 gypsum dust and 2 sand. In the future, White Sand will generate in it’s own biome.

End Stone

Cavern also adds new blocks to the End. End Stone now can be crafted into Chiseled and Cracked Bricks variants. It can also be smelted into Smooth End Stone. Smooth End Stone can be crafted in a 2x2 crafting grid to create Cut Smooth End Stone.

End Sand, Glass, and Dust

End Sand and End Dust now generate all over the End. End Sand can be smelted into End Glass, and can be crafted into End Stone just like Sand can craft Sandstone. End Dust Blocks drop 3-5 end dust, which will have a use in a future update. For now, just craft it back into a full block with a 2x2 crafting grid.

Obsidian

Obsidian now comes in two new forms: obsidian bricks and gilded obsidian. Gilded Obsidian generate rarely in the end below y-25. When mined, it drops 3-5 diamonds.

Purpur

Cavern makes some changes to Purpur: it can now generate naturally and the vanilla Purpur Block is now called Cut Purpur. Purpurite ore will generate all over the End; when mined it will drop 3-6 purpurite, which can then be crafted into a Purpurite Block. Purpurite Blocks can then be crafted into polished and cut (craft 4 polished purpur together) versions.

Pearlstone

Pearlstone is a teal end rock that generates below y-50. It can be crafted into polished and cut variants. Pearlstone can also be crafted into ender pearls, which can be useful if you don’t want to risk dying from attacking endermen.

Voidstone

Voidstone is a dark purple end rock that generates below y-30. It can be crafted into polished and cut variants.

End Lamp

The End Lamp is a new light source block that can be crafted with popped chorus fruit and blaze powder. It was designed to feel like the block version of end rods.

Vanilla Rocks with new Variants

Cavern adds some new variants to existing rocks as well. Polished Cobblestone (crafted as you’d think), Banded Sandstone, Cobbled Sandstone, and Sandstone Bricks can now be crafted. Banded and Cobbled Sandstone can be obtained via the stonecutter and Sandstone Bricks can be made by smelting Smooth Sandstone and then using the bricks in a 2x2 crafting grid to get the brick block.

Cobblestone & Sand Substitution

All of the custom rocks, Sandstone, Granite, Diorite, Andesite, Blackstone, and End Stone can replace cobblestone in crafting recipes for stone tools, dispensers, droppers, observers, furnaces, levers, and brewing stands. White Sand and End Sand can replace Sand in crafting recipes for concrete powder, TNT, and glass (only white sand will smelt into normal glass). This was done to make these blocks more useful and to counteract the fact that so stone doesn’t generate as much underground.

Creative Clay

All of the custom blocks added in this addon can be obtained using Creative Clay. Use the command /function creative to get yourself some Creative Clay, and then craft it into any block using the stonecutter.

Known Issues

- The custom blocks are broken at the same speed no matter the tool, and can be broken with your hand. (Use Flint Tools to help remedy this)
- Blocks also do not show up in the creative inventory, they can only be obtained from crafting, mining, commands, or by using Creative Clay.
- End Glass and Peach/Tan Hardened and Stained Glass have a dark shadow underneath when placed.
- Fortune does not work on Gilded Obsidian, Gypsum, End Dust, or any of the new ores.
- Stripping, Tilling, and making dirt paths do not remove durability from flint tools.
- Peach/Tan wool doesn’t catch on fire.
These are issues with Minecraft and cannot currently be fixed.
In Minecraft versions before 1.16.210, generation won’t work properly after logging out.
The 1.16 version of Cavern will not continue to be supported with quality of life updates or future content, but will still be available for download.

To get this addon download either the ZIP or MCPACK files in the downloads below. All of these files are direct downloads, so you don’t have to worry about sketchy ads or viruses from Link Shorteners.
If you don’t know how to apply addons to Minecraft, I recommend looking for a tutorial on youtube for your device, or look at the installation guides on MCPEDL.
Before importing the Cavern files, put them inside of your Minecraft folder. If you try to import it outside of the Minecraft folder, you will get errors.
